Collective Soul have always been admirably self-aware. When the group's best album, 2000's Blender, was released, they experienced an unwarranted amount of vitriol from their fan base because nobody got the joke that they were actually spoofing the boy-band era with narcissistic cover art and not merely adhering to it. It's a special kind of special when a group tricks their fans into lashing out at them

Collective Soul burst into the mainstream in 1994 with the album ‘Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid,’ which went double platinum in the US and included the gold-selling single ‘Shine,’ among other hits. See What You Started By Continuing’ was recorded at Edible Studios in Atlanta, and followed a year-long break that the band decided to take after 19 years of non-stop work.
