After years of discontinued print, the album was re-released by Nitro and Epitaph Records in 1995 with a different album cover. Both the re-releases on the two respective labels are nearly identical. Talk about The Offspring - The Offspring

Gunos
I'm also interested why it was removed? I have a copy. Ok, you don't want to sell it via discogs, but why you remove it from catalogue? I want explanations :/
Tujar
This is the most obvious bootleg ever. Not allowed to sell them on here
Rias
When they finally put this out on CD why the hell did they change the cover art? The original artwork is cool as hell. The CD artwork sucks AZZ!!!
Shadowredeemer
Did anyone listening to this in 1989 ever imagine that ten years later The Offspring would be one of the biggest bands on the planet? No? Didn’t think so. Crazy, isn’t it? It’s like Nickelback and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. All these bands who have these incredibly raw, obscure or unusual debuts that you always think will keep them firmly placed in the underground, yet they go on to worldwide fame. But that’s exactly what you get with ‘The Offspring’, the 1989 debut album of, uh, The Offspring. With edgy and brash guitar playing, unpolished vocals and rather juvenile lyrics, this is an incredibly raw pop punk album, which doesn’t quite offer much in terms of potential. Sure, its energy is infectious, but the music lacks the melody and hooks that would give the band such monumental success on later releases. As a result, a lot of the music sounds pretty bland, and the vocals, seemingly directionless at times, just kind of sit on top, most times sounding like vocalist Dexter Holland is trying to squeeze too many words into a short space of time. As a result, nothing really clicks with me here. The band will go on to write some absolute bangers, but most of the music here is very repetitive and consists of the same few guitar chords being strummed at a fast paced. ‘Beheaded’, ‘Jennifer Lost the War’ and ‘Kill the President’ are the only tracks I can even consider remotely memorable, but even then, I’ve already forgotten how they go. If you’re expecting ‘Pretty Fly’ or ‘Original Prankster’ and other mainstream radio hits, then you have most definitely come to the wrong album, as this is an almost totally different band, and not for the better. ‘The Offspring’ pales in comparison to the bands later, more polished, melodic and catchier work, and as a result, is best kept for collectors and die-hard punk fans.
Usishele
Confirmed that theres no Kill the President, just got one today
Vetalol
I just bought this and no, Kill The President is not featured on this release unfortunatly.
Vozuru
Why this release in Red has been deleted from Discogs?
Daron
i own a copy of this and bought it on RSD. i think it sounds good ok. do not think it's been remastered - but this record is cool as f*** regardless!
Lli
4/5 stars since 11th track Kill The President is missing from this version. They should have included it, even unlisted.
Gaua
I totally agree. That's the reason i don't even want it. I love this album but it has changed way too much. First of all they should have kept the cover art the same. The original cover looks cool as hell. This cover kinda sucks. Second they never should have taken Kill The President off of it.
Yayrel
I'd love to hear about the sound quality as well.
Heri
How does this sound? I bought it but haven't received it in the mail yet.
Arryar
You can clearly hear every instrument and note!It sounds pretty good!
Vut
A bunch of copies come with no insert. The cover is reproduced well though.
Lavivan
How is the sound quality of this pressing? Im looking for a copy of this Offspring album, so I'm just curious how this specific pressing sounds.
Arlelond
i wish they would re-issue this cover art version. the 1995 (common) version sucks. such a shame.
Nahelm
Hey what happened to the Nemesis silver pressed cd version of this that was listed on discogs (and sold here) for awhile. Now the listing is gone and no more? They look identical to the original Nemesis cover LP and sound less mixed. But they were factory pressed silver cd's. What happened to them?
Kekinos
Is there seriously a nemesis mix on CD?! I HAVE to get my hands on this. Really desperately could even use a needledrop of the original nemesis mastering.
Ylonean
something the owner of Nemesis record just told me on instagram: @bigfrank323I will tell you a story about cargo. When I started out it was just nemesis then my Friend Kane who was my distributor got us a distribution deal with cargo and that was prettying the beginning of the end. First they insisted on this big cargo logo on all releases and then when I had finally had enough and folded my label. They tried to go after all the bands on my label and re release everything on cargo with no nemesis credit. So really in my opinion any release that says cargo but not nemesis is a bootleg and was an attempt to usurp the label I worked very hard on and they can burn in eternity for all I care.
BlackHaze
Hey mate, do nemesis have an instagram page? Trying to find them now but can't seem to.
Bloodfire
What about the limited edition red vinyl re issue?
Dori
Many people have called this the forgotten Offspring album. Now, you'll see why: it had never officially been released on CD anywhere until 1995 after they rose to popularity. When Ignition and Smash came out in 1992 and 1994 respectively, many didn't even realize that The Offspring had an album back in the late 80s. When their self-titled album was originally released on June 15, 1989 (exactly three months after I was born), only 5,000 copies were pressed and I heard that at least one copy got destroyed. The truth is that it took The Offspring about two and half years for them to sell all copies of the vinyl before they went out of print. If you ask fans about this album some wouldn't realize that The Offspring had an album before Ignition. In fact the use of lyrics for a pop-punk band like violence and war-related topics make this album sound quite unique for The Offspring.
Westened
That one destroyed copy was recorded and aired on TV. They were guests on some talk show called The Wally George Show, and I don't know if it was a local access channel or not, but anyway, he got the band on the show, started tearing into them and trash talking them really bad (with the audience going along with him), and he pulled out a copy of their first album and proceeded to break it into pieces. There's a clip of this on Youtube. Anyway, just saying this is probably the one destroyed copy you mentioned.
Rleillin
The album that was destroyed, it was destroyed on live TV (on a talk show). I believe that they destroyed it because it had harsh songs, such as "kill the president", so they destroyed in front of the band members.
