One of the more amusing moments in Belgian history eternaly remembered on vinyl. In late 88 half of Belgium was completely under the spell of the mysterious abduction of, at the same time sausage-king and former prime minister, Paul Van Den Boeynants. A couple of months later in early 89 the police found VDB back very much alive and kickin'. The day after he was found Vdb explained in a mega televised interview in true Brussels style his abduction and what happened to him. With catchy phrases like : "Vdb tu vas pas crever", "ils on volé ma pipe", "il y avait rien a manger" (traduction : Vdb you are not gonna die in here, they stole my pipe ...), this was sureshot food for the samplehungry Belgian new beat producers. About 5 records were immediately made and released on various labels, all turning out immediate chartbusters. As a typical example of the bizarre Belgian taste for surrealism and selfridiculisation, people were on a "Vdb on acid" trip for a couple weeks. This specific release isn't the biggest chart hit of them all, but it shows that even a "serious" label like Ssr eventualy was seduced by the charm and easy money of the new beat hype. For more Vdb check : "Qui by Bsr" (the charttopper) and "welcome back mister Vdb by KL303". Still brings a smile on my face ;-))
