Wowee Zowee is the third studio album by American indie rock band Pavement. The album showcased a more experimental and spontaneous side of the group, returning them to the clatter and unpredictability of their early recordings after the more traditional rock sound of 1994's Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain.

Matador and Pavement follow their 2xCD expanded reissues of Slanted and Enchanted and Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain with a deluxe Wowee Zowee package that includes B-sides rounding out the first disc, and a second CD of outtakes, radio shots, live songs, and compilation tracks. Stephen Malkmus writes in the liner notes of the expanded 2xCD reissue of Wowee Zowee that many of his friends like this Pavement record best. In 2006, that's not a crazy notion: Wowee Zowee was Pavement's White Album, a little bit of everything thrown together, and as with the Beatles' double, its adherents prefer the band at its loosest, funniest, and most willing to do whatever pops into their heads. But I wonder what . s friends thought when WZ was released in April 1995.

But Pavement was more important as a rock band than as a post-modern performance piece, and the highlights on Sordid Sentinels are the songs Pavement fans know and love performed the way we already knew and loved them. Here’s the band’s gleeful rewiring of the Schoolhouse Rock! tune No More Kings !
