Eventually, the "Valley Girl" soundtrack was issued complete on a later CD. This Roadshow lp is fairly hard to find, and includes only a portion of some of the movie's music. Most noticeably missing is Modern English's "I Melt With You", not to mention Sparks' "Eaten by the Monster of Love". This lp is a curiosity, but hardly the entire "soundtrack". The soundtrack includes new wave faves such as Felony's eerie "Fanatic," the Plimsouls' earnest "Everywhere at Once" and the Flirts' pouty "Jukebox (Don't Put Another Dime). Songs by Josie Cotton and the Payola$ also grace the album. Additionally, the soundtrack includes '80s staples from Men at Work, the Psychedelic Furs, and Modern English.

If you do get a hankering for that stuff, this compilation (which includes tracks that both were and were not included on the original Valley Girl soundtrack) is pretty representative of that lightweight genre. Bananarama, Culture Club, and Toni Basil are represented with their most popular cuts; Rachel Sweet and Bonnie Hayes are among the lesser-known exponents of the style; Little Girls and Gary Myrick are among the most unknown exponents of the style; and the Jam's "Town Without Malice" provides a much-needed blast of credibility.

80s, Valley Girl actually became a musical showcase for the dizzying array of styles that collided under the mantle of new wave. And though the movie didn't even have an initial soundtrack release, Rhino has more than made up for that shortcoming with two generous volumes. Deriving much of its inspiration from then-pioneering .

O Brother, Where Art Thou? is the soundtrack album of music from the 2000 American film of the same name, written, directed and produced by the Coen Brothers and starring George Clooney, John Turturro, Tim Blake Nelson, and John Goodman. The film is set in Mississippi during the Great Depression. The soundtrack, produced by T-Bone Burnett, uses bluegrass, country, gospel, blues, and folk music appropriate to the time period.
