Hickory Wind" is a song written by country rock artist Gram Parsons and former International Submarine Band member Bob Buchanan. The song was written on a train ride the pair took from Florida to Los Angeles in early 1968, and first appeared on The Byrds' Sweetheart of the Rodeo album. Despite Buchanan's input, "Hickory Wind" is generally considered to be Parsons' signature song.

Hickory Wind formed in late 1972/early 1973 in Morgantown, West Virginia. Original band members Sam Morgan (2), Bob Shank (2), Pete Tenney, and Glen McCarthy, all students at West Virginia University, were joined in May 1973 by lead vocalist Mark Walbridge.

Produced by Gary Usher. Album Grievous Angel. In South Carolina there are many tall pines I remember the oak tree that we used to climb But now when I'm lonesome, I always pretend That I'm getting the feel of hickory wind. I started out younger at most everything All the riches and pleasures, what else could life bring? But it makes me feel better each time it begins Callin' me home, hickory wind
