Burzum - Det Som Engang Var flac album

Det som engang var (Norwegian for What Once Was) is the second studio album by the Norwegian black metal solo project Burzum. It was recorded in April 1992 and released in August 1993 through Burzum's own label, Cymophane. Varg Vikernes recorded the first four Burzum albums between January 1992 and March 1993 at the Grieg Hall in Bergen. However, the releases were spread out, with many months between the recording and the release of each album.

The "Det Som Engang Var" album was never released on DSP. Originally I intended to release the "Aske" mini-LP myself as well, in early 1993, but as you know that is when I was arrested for the first time. And I did. This is when Aarseth (Euronymous) got desperate, as he was frantically trying to get me to release Burzum on DSP. So to the point; "Det Som Engang Var" was released in August 1993 on my own label, Cymophane. It was only released on CD and was limited to around 950 copies. I was arrested only days after it's release though, but VoW sold some hundred copies before they refused to co-operate with me anymore (because I was "Nazi"), and I got the rest. I have sold most of these, and given some away to friends.

Det som engang var is Norwegian for "What Once Wa. English translation of Norwegian titles: 1. The Coast of Evil 3. One Ring to Rule 5. The One Who Wandered 6. When the Sky Clears 7. Turn the Sign of the Microcosm 8. Black Thrones. The cover art, just like the one of Burzum, was inspired by the Dungeons and Dragons adventure module The Temple of Elemental Evil. Working title of the record was På svarte troner, but this was changed before the album was officially released.

And in many ways, the album reflected all of the massive contradictions - musical and emotional - fighting for soul, leaving authorities, critics, and fans alike understandably confused as to whether he was a heartless, cold-blooded killer or a desperate man wronged by Euronymous; a bona fide Satanic terrorist or the sort of delusional naïf who depicted one.
