Cyberpunk is the fifth studio album by English rock musician Billy Idol, released on 29 June 1993 by Chrysalis Records. A concept album, it was inspired by his personal interest in technology and his first attempts to use computers in the creation of his music. Idol based the album on the cyberdelic subculture of the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Written-By – Billy Idol (tracks: A1 to A7, B2 to B5), Mark Younger-Smith (tracks: A1 to A3, A5 to A7, B2 to B5), Robin Hancock (tracks: A1 to A7, B2 to B5). Notes. Recorded at Golgotha Studios and Ameraycan Studios on 48 Track Sony Digital, Mixed at A&M Studios on SSL 6000 . Mastered at Precision Mastering. Segues Recorded using The Binaural System, Album recorded by Roland Sound Space so this album is Headphone Friendly. Floppy Disk Jaime Levy, Electronic Hollywood.

The discography of Billy Idol, his solo recordings post-Generation X, consists of eight studio albums, one live album, five compilation albums, one extended play, and 37 singles. Greatest Hits and Devil's Playground failed to chart in The Official UK Top 75 Albums Chart (published by Music Week), but did chart on the complete Top 200 UK Chart published by Charts+Plus (published mainly for music business statistics).

Unfortunately, most of the album is padded with pretentious speeches, sampled dialog, and underdeveloped songs. Especially noteworthy is his techno-dance interpretation of the Velvet Underground's "Heroin" (featuring a repeated Patti Smith quote), which is one of the worst covers ever recorded.

While recognizable as Billy Idol, Cyberpunk is a clear departure from Billy's usual work and represents an important artistic evolution in Billy's discography. Many artists content themselves with producing the same sounds over and over for years; it took courage for Billy to go through with this experiment. Maybe if he had released the album a few years earlier or later, it would have generated more interest and a warmer reception. I have never heard anything else even close to Cyberpunk. Every track is a brilliant mix of punk & techno music with great guirtar work. You will not be disipointed with this or any other Billy Idol Album. Billy Idol basically invents a new genre of music with every album he makes, he is that brilliant.

This spoken-word prologue kicked off Billy Idol's sixth studio LP, Cyberpunk, a 20-track concept album that took Idol's world-famous persona and multi-platinum sound and attempted to bring them into the '90s - both in terms of the lyrical subject matter, which focused on futuristic themes, and in terms of the computer-driven production methods used.
