Breakwater’s sophomore and final album, Splashdown, released in 1980, is a fine example of sophisticated early 80’s R&B and funk, plus a few grand ballads, which should have charted high but were ignored by both Pop and R&B radio. Splashdown consists of 8 songs and most are jazzy, funky and danceable R&B. Any of the songs on this set would have been a welcome addition to Top 40 Pop, R&B or Dance charts had radio or Breakwater’s label been more supportive.
