Chicago (sometimes referred to as Chicago II) is the second studio album by Chicago-based American rock band Chicago. Like their debut album, Chicago Transit Authority, this was a double album. It was their first album under the name Chicago (the band's prior name, Chicago Transit Authority, was changed due to a threatened lawsuit from the Chicago Transit Authority) and the first to use the now ubiquitous cursive Chicago logo on the cover

The Best of Chicago: 40th Anniversary is a double greatest hits album, and the thirty-first album overall, by American rock band Chicago, released by Rhino Records on October 2, 2007. It consists of two discs containing 30 of Chicago's top 40 singles. It is the fourth compilation of past hits released by their label since beginning of the decade.

This Chicago discography is ranked from best to worst, so the top Chicago albums can be found at the top of the list. The band hails from the city of Chicago, and has been together in various formations since 1967. Over time, the group's sound has evolved from rock to soft rock to pop. To make it easy for you, we haven't included Chicago singles, EPs, or compilations, so everything you see here should only be studio albums.

Chicago was my first concert back in the early 70's, and I was lucky enough to see the original lineup 3 times. Lost interest in the band after Kath died, the band didn't seem the same after that. Lost it's edge and headed down the shady slope towards adult contemporary. This album is the same: the first disc is a great chronicle of the cutting edge, innovative sound of the band when they first started. The second disc shows the band as they turned into a ballad factory, essentially losing the horns and leaning heavily on 80's synthy keyboards.

The Box is a five-CD/one DVD career-spanning box set by popular American group Chicago and was compiled and released through Rhino Records in 2003. The set was authorized by the band, which helped choose material from its entire back catalogue. The box includes material from every studio album released by the band since its 1969 debut Chicago Transit Authority to its late 1990s recordings, along with a few rarities, notably three songs from the then-unreleased 1993 Stone of Sisyphus project.

support), it nevertheless is very satisfying, since it rounds up all of the hits, and Chicago were at their very best on their hits. For anybody who has been holding on to all three Greatest Hits collections, this will replace them all, since it has almost every song from all three, plus remastered sound.

That album spawned three Top 10 hits. Chicago's fortunes kept rising throughout the '70s though, by the following decade, they had become a faint vision of their former selves artistically. Fans of pop hits like "If You Leave Me Now" and "Hard Habit to Break" might just fall over dead upon hearing such early things as "A Hit By Varese" or "Free Form Guitar," which is literally seven minutes of feedback from guitarist Terry Kath
