Other is the ninth studio album by English singer-songwriter Alison Moyet, released on 16 June 2017, by Cooking Vinyl. It is her first album of new material since 2013's The Minutes, which saw her returning to her electronic music roots. In July 2013, Moyet revealed that she had begun writing new material for the follow-up to her eighth studio album, The Minutes. Studio sessions commenced in October 2016.

Geneviève Alison Jane Moyet (/ˈmɒjeɪ/ MOY-ay; born 18 June 1961) is an English singer, songwriter and performer noted for her powerful bluesy contralto voice. She came to prominence as half of the duo Yazoo (also known as Yaz), but has since mainly worked as a solo artist. Her worldwide album sales have reached a certified 23 million, with over 2 million singles sold.

Alison Moyet has perhaps the best first track off an album that I’ve heard all year. With Other, her ninth studio album, Moyet gives us a beautifully crafted electropop album. The dark and theatrical synths complement Moyet’s deep contralto, one of the most identifiable features of the album. It’s obvious that Moyet has plenty of experience as a singer-songwriter, because each song feels perfectly tailored to HER. This is an album that only someone like Moyet could make and she executes it in a seamless fashion. And, as I said, Other has the best first track I’ve heard all year.

Moyet's vocals are deep and honest. The lyrics are poetry-literally. I remember Alison Moyet from Yaz in the 1980s. While the music on this album uses synth reminiscent of the 80's, this music is for "grown up. That's a very nice combination.
