Harlan Perry Howard (September 8, 1927 – March 3, 2002) was an American songwriter, principally in country music. In a career spanning six decades, Howard wrote a large number of popular and enduring songs, recorded by a variety of different artists . I recognized this music as a simple plea. Howard completed only nine years of formal education, though he was an avid reader. When he was 12 years of age Harlan began writing songs, "an enthusiasm fueled by an appetite for books and an ear for a telling phrase. Though not often thought of as a writer of rhythm and blues songs, Howard wrote Joe Simon's R&B chart hit "The Chokin' Kind", a million-selling record in 1969.
It's All in Your Mind" is a single by Beck, released in 1995. Although then a non-album single (being a 7" of outtakes from his album One Foot in the Grave), a later version was recorded and included on his album Sea Change (2002); this recording is more widely known. The rerecording is the seventh track on Beck's 2002 album, Sea Change. It is perhaps one of the simplest songs on the album lyrically; many phrases are repeated, with 'I wanted to be' iterated nine times.
Busted" is a song written by Harlan Howard in 1962. It was recorded and first released by Johnny Cash (with the Carter Family) for Cash's 1963 album Blood, Sweat and Tears. The first recording was by Burl Ives in 1962. It has subsequently been recorded by several notable artists, including Ray Charles (also in 1963) and Patty Loveless (2009).
Willie Clayton recorded it on his 2008 album Soul and Blues. In 2010, German classical bass-baritone Thomas Quasthoff recorded a version for his crossover album Tell It Like It Is. In 2012, The Flashbulb remixed this song to "The History of Rain" on the album Opus at the End of Everything. Classic rock singer Paul Rodgers included his version of the song on his 2014 cover album of soul classics The Royal Sessions. I Can't Stand the Rain" has been utilized as a sample by the hip hop duo Reflection Eternal (a collaborative group comprising conscious hip hop artist.

Trickbag It's doubtful that Sweden is high on anyone's list of top blues locales, but one spin of Trickbag will convince listeners it's not without its merits. This 5-piece band is impressive and steeped in blues, particularly the swinging West Coast approach of artists like Rod Piazza, William Clarke, George Smith, and others. Together though, it paints a portrait of sorts of the artist and his fealty to the blues sometimes expressed through jazz, other times through early RnB and rock ‘n’ roll and a couple of other sources that has some connection to his life. For instance, this jazz drummer knew Bob Dylan from the young folkie’s days at the Fillmore West and chose to cover a later Dylan song, the straight-up blues Meet Me In The Morning.
