At the Waleback isn't as funny as one might hope, but this is truly a one-of-a-kind item, and as weird as you would expect

A few years after this album came out Robbie became a member of the LA-based psych band Clear Light, whose 1967 self-titled album is considered to be one of the finest examples of West Coast psych-pop. Robison died a couple of years after that album came out. The legacy of the Werewolf record still remains. Perhaps the most tragic thing about it is that hipsters now call this a lost freak folk classic. 01. Vampire Man 02. Drums And Guns 03.

Sixties rock fans (and that naturally includes you) probably already know that Robbie The Werewolf met with further fame as guitarist for Clear Light, whose 1967 self-titled album is a psychedelic masterpiece. And if you continue to connect the dots, Robbie’s wife, Barbara was the vocalist for the Peanut Butter Conspiracy, another great band from the acid rock era.

At The Waleback ‎(CD, Album, RE). Gear Fab Records. With his long red hair and matching beard, Robbie The Werewolf - a folksinger of the frantic variety with a fetish for monsters - was a striking performer with a manic stage presence, acting out his songs as much as singing them. His set consisted of his original songs and uniquely reworked versions of folk standards, played on a beat-up twelve-string guitar. This inspired some of the most bizarre songs ever committed to vinyl: listen to Count Dracula and its proto-psychedelic, amazing echo effects or the insane DIY rocker Rockin’ Werewolf

Robbie's mad and manical tenor, supplanted with his insane lyrics, are both entertaining and ridiculous, pointing towards an album you'll either love or hate. Vampires, a horny devil, Count Dracula, marijuana, a little brother encountering sharks, tip-toeing through the tulips, a flamenco story, to. sychedelicbaby. Coming In February 2016: Robbie The WereWolf: Live At The Waleback. This classic and ultra-rare 1964 lp is probably one of the most bizzare recordings of the 1960's folk era. Robbie Robison later ended up playing in The Brain Train in 1967 and his wife Barbara "Sandi" Robison was the lead vocalist in The Peanut Butter Conspiracy. Featuring liner notes by Alan Brackett of The Peanut Butter Conspiracy and 60's Music Extraordinaire Gray Newell.
