The National's second album Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers, released in 2003, was the band's first collaboration with record producers, Paul Heck and Peter Katis, who would later also produce the band's critically acclaimed albums, Alligator and Boxer. After the release of the album, renowned DJ Bernard Lenoir invited them to perform on his Black Sessions twice on France Inter In 2004, they released the Cherry Tree E. Soon after this meeting, Moon filmed his first music videos ever, which were for the National's songs "Daughters of the Soho Riots" and "Lit Up". Moon's photography also appears on the cover for Alligator. High Violet (2010–2012).

The National – Lit Up. El material se está procesando. Por favor, vuelve más tarde. My bodyguard shows her revolver to anyone who asks And yeah she comes to attention when you come up to me too fast For a little while you'll be here, the only good part of me For a little while you'll be here. So lit up, lit up, lit up alright I try to untie Manhattan Lit up, lit up, lit up alright I try to untie

The National surely knew it, and a handful of longtime fans likely knew it as well. But it wasn’t until the group toured with opener Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! in fall 2005 that word finally spread of the group’s third album Alligator. Songs like Abel, Lit Up, and Mr. November are ringers now, but they hit like a ton of bricks back when no one saw them coming. Listen: The National: Mr. November. It’s easy to get caught up in the stories surrounding this out-of-nowhere album, but the music pulls you back to the real world. Listen: Bon Iver: Skinny Love.

The National are one of the best indie rock bands of all time. Formed in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1999, The National were a band of high critical acclaim right out of the gate. Examples in this list include releases like their sophomore effort Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers (2003) and the Alligator (2005)
