More Notes: In 1974, George Harrison was caught between his Beatles fame and the solo career he’d been working toward for years, caught between the rock and roll life and a growing spirituality, caught between marriage and a very public divorce - and caught between finishing a new album and hitting the road for the first American solo jaunt by any of the. former Fabs. As the ‘Dark Horse’ album arrived late into the concert schedule, Harrison found himself on the edge of a breakdown - with only a new love to tether him down.
George Harrison (1943–2001) was an English musician who gained international fame as the lead guitarist of the Beatles. With his songwriting contributions limited by the dominance of John Lennon and Paul McCartney, Harrison was the first member of the Beatles to release a solo album.
George Harrison and Ravi Shankar's 1974 North American tour was a 45-show concert tour of the United States and Canada, undertaken by English musician George Harrison and Indian sitarist Ravi Shankar in November and December of 1974. It is often referred to as the Dark Horse Tour, since the concerts served as a launch for Harrison's record label Dark Horse Records, to which Shankar was one of the inaugural signings, and Harrison's concurrent single was the song "Dark Horse".

George Harrison kicked off the first North American tour by a solo member of the Beatles on Nov. 2, 1974. As the George Harrison and Friends North American Tour began, on Nov. 2, 1974, at Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, he'd become worn down, and croaky from relentless sessions and rehearsal work. Embattled from all sides, Harrison seemed to be itching for a fight. He’d hardheadedly rework his best known songs (confusing more than a few Beatles fans along the way), take pot shots at his former bandmates and ultimately wall himself off from those he was currently working with, too. As the Dark Horse album arrived late into the concert schedule, Harrison found himself on the edge of a breakdown.
Brian van der Brug, Los Angeles Times). That's Chris Carter, host of the long-running "Breakfast with the Beatles" radio show heard Sunday mornings in Los Angeles on KLOS-FM (9. ). He did it with his first post-Beatles solo album, "All Things Must Pass," a triple album that surprised even Harrison admirers with the quantity and quality of music he delivered once he was no longer relegated to one or two tracks per Beatles release. It came out in the . 45 years ago, on Nov. 27, 1970.
