Morris Stoloff (who conducts this classic soundtrack) signed Duning to Columbia in 1946, where Duning reigned as house composer (I'm reminded of Papa Haydn chez Esterhazy) for Kim Novak (BELL, BOOK AND CANDLE), Delmer Daves (COWBOY, 3:10 TO YUMA) and Bill Holden (WORLD OF SUZIE WONG) and, later, extensive television scoring (NAKED CITY, BIG VALLEY, STAR TREK). And if this music really grabs you, the ultimate and definitive "Moonglow and Theme from Picnic," all grafts healed, is Arthur Fiedler's sumptuous Pops cover, much anthologized and originally released on the RCA keeper BOSTON TEA PARTY. This is the first-generation digital transfer, straight from MCA vaults, of the bestselling Decca vinyl.
