At one point Walt Disney considered using a combination of live action and animation to tell the story. His plan was to have real actors play Alice and her sister at the introduction and conclusion of the film, with the rest of the film being an animated dream. At one point, "Brave New World" author Aldous Huxley worked on the script for the movie.

Kathryn Beaumont was only 12 years old when she got the part of Alice in Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderland. Much like the voice actors in video games today, Beaumont was asked to also perform reference scenes on a sound stage for the animators.
