The seven-note simplicity is marvelous and the song may be the most emotionally moving piece that Jennifer Gentle has created. The haunting disposition doesn't last long, though, as the rest of the album morphs from beauty into a much more tense and temperamental (or psychotic) experiment into the realms of Can and Syd Barrett. The album remains quiet, but can still be dizzying at some times, and at others, absolutely scary. Marco Fasolo's vocals are slightly devilish but sung sweetly in a high pitched timbre that sounds like a gnome on helium

Jennifer Gentle is an Italian psychedelic rock band. The band's name derives from a verse of the song "Lucifer Sam" by Syd Barrett. Jennifer Gentle was formed by Marco Fasolo and Alessio Gastaldello in early 2000, after the breakup of Marco’s previous band, Carcers. Later, these two young men teamed up with guitarist Isacco Maretto and bassist Nick Crivellari, which would complete the early stage of this Northern Italian rock group.

album with a moment of pseudo-spirituality similar to "Twin Ghosts. Others might argue the best moments are those that seem too directly lifted from Barrett, but to them I say "Pshaw!" Fasolo injects enough of his own personality to make Jennifer Gentle distinctive and worthy of its own merit. Hearing The Midnight Room now only makes me wish more folks would embrace the poppy melodic side of the psychedelic coin more often.
