Talk about Hanka Ordonówna - Śpiewa...

Moonworm
A beautiful fragment of the lost world that was the second Polish Republic (1918-1939)This is a communist era reissue with several points of interest. firstly the fact that it could be issued at all tells you that things had thawed slightly. but the highly censored biography on the back of this album indicates the very real censorship of the time. The Discogs biography covers her turbulent life well so you can see what really happened but the biography on the back of the record uses the vague description "the fortunes of war took her to Uzbekistan, Iran etc", thus drawing a veil over the shocking ordeal she experiences at the hands of the Soviets. but Poles like others living under dictatorship were skilled at reading between the lines and would have known exactly what was hidden behind those measly words.
