The Queen's Royal Hussars (The Queen's Own and Royal Irish) (QRH) is the senior United Kingdom armoured regiment. It was formed on 1 September 1993 from the amalgamation of the Queen's Own Hussars and the Queen's Royal Irish Hussars. The regiment and its antecedents have been awarded 172 Battle Honours and eight Victoria Crosses. The regiment is currently based in Sennelager, Germany, where it is the armoured regiment for 20th Armoured Brigade, part of British Forces Germany.

13th/18th Royal Hussars (Queen Mary's Own). This British Army armoured unit was formed in 1922 by merging two hussar regiments. It served with the Royal Armoured Corps until 1992, when it became part of The Light Dragoons. Amphibious tanks of 13th/18th Royal Hussars moving through Ouistreham, Normandy, 6 June 1944. In 1935, it was re-titled as the 13th/18th Royal Hussars (Queen Mary’s Own). World War. Five months before the outbreak of the Second World War (1939-45), it was transferred to the Royal Armoured Corps (RAC). It then fought as a reconnaissance unit in the Battle of France in 1940, before being evacuated at Dunkirk. After re-forming and training in Britain, it fought with 8th Armoured Brigade from the Normandy landings (1944) to the Rhine Crossings (1945). During the former operation, it was equipped with Duplex Drive Sherman tanks.

The picture on the front of the sleeve depicts the charge of the 13th Light Dragoons (who later became 13th Hussars) at Balaklava, better known as the Charge Of The Light Brigade. The picture painted by Peter Archer was commissioned in 1980 and hangs in the Officer's Mess.
