Warsaw was the planned debut album by the English post-punk band Joy Division, while they were briefly associated with RCA Records. Recorded in May 1978, it comprised eleven tracks now known collectively as the "RCA Sessions". However, the band were disappointed with the label's post-production work and the deal fell through, the album being scrapped.

The song appears to be a lyrical biography of Rudolf Hess, a Nazi and Hitler’s confidante, who later became disillusioned with Hitler’s rule and fled to Scotland in an attempt to draw peace between the Axis and the Allies. What was planned to be Joy Division's first LP (unreleased until 1994, except in bootleg form) sounds like an album from the punk era - raw and edgy, undisciplined but tuneful, unlike the group's proper debut, Unknown Pleasures. All of the tracks were later seen in different form, but Warsaw still manages to captivate through its pure energy. In addition to the twelve tracks from the bootleg recordings, the album also includes five tracks from July 1977, the most punk-inspired songs in the group's discography.
