Chris Kenner was a fairly unknown New Orleans R&B singer in the 1960s. Three of his songs are remembered, however. Kenner's laid-back and funky style is reminiscent of Lee Dorsey and fits right into the New Orleans sound.

I Like It Like That" is a song by Chris Kenner and Allen Toussaint, first recorded by Kenner, whose version reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1961. It was kept from the N. spot by, Tossin' and Turnin' by Bobby Lewis. This version also went to No. 2 on the R&B singles chart. Chris Kenner (December 25, 1929 – January 25, 1976) was a New Orleans rhythm & blues singer and songwriter, best known for two hit singles, "I Like It Like That" and "Land Of 1000 Dances", in the early 1960s, that became staples in the repertoires of many other musicians. Born in the farming community of Kenner, Louisiana, upriver from New Orleans, Kenner sang gospel music with his church choir, and moved to New Orleans in his teens.
