Larry Heard (born May 31, 1960, Chicago, Illinois) is a Memphis, Tennessee-based DJ, record producer and musician, widely known as an important figure in 1980s Chicago house music.

Can you give too much praise to Larry Heard? In case you even thought about that for a second, no, you can't. The house master, one of the originators, has such a resume that only a few producers on this planet can compete with him. Mr. Heard, some say, brought the smoothness and sensuality of jazz and soul to the house back in the day. No matter if you agree with that statement or not, this compilation is full of essential deep house classics that you have heard. Instead of buying crappy and expensive Trax or DJ International releases this one covers them all. This compilation has all the essential "best of Larry Heard" tunes you might ask for. Hell, I bet you could do an entire deep house DJ set just playing these two discs. You cannot overvalue the importance of these historical house gems which have inspired, dare I say, generations of producers long after these were originally released. Maybe there are a couple of fillers, or tunes that you would have replaced. But the most essential stuff is right here, on one release. And that's what matters.And in case you're wondering if these are some crappy low quality recordings from original vinyl records, with hiss, and clicks, and all. The answer is, no. This the real deal, almost crystal clear recordings with nothing to complain about on the sound quality.

Included are: Amnesia, Mystical People, Children at Play, Stars, Never no more Lonely, gallimanfru gallery, A path, So glad, Blast off, Shine, Music take me up, and Brazilian Love Dance. Also included are the previously unreleased tracks Dream and the Children's House. Another treat is the very rare "Play it Loud" which will please many Larry Heard fanatics. Guest vocals by the Fingers, Inc. partner Robert Owens on a couple of tracks. Also added are a couple of Larry's independent projects. The pressing is very good. This is an Excellent addition to Larry Heard fiends, old and new.
