Mixture of molten or semi-molten rock, volatiles and solids that is found beneath the surface of the Earth. This article needs additional citations for verification. Please help improve this article by adding citations to reliable sources. suspended crystals and gas bubbles. Magma is produced by melting of the mantle and/or the crust at various tectonic settings, including subduction zones, continental rift zones, mid-ocean ridges and hotspots. Mantle and crustal melts migrate upwards through the crust where they are thought to be stored in magma chambers or trans-crustal crystal-rich mush zones. During their storage in the crust, magma compositions may be modified by fractional crystallization, contamination with crustal melts, magma mixing, and degassing.

The outcome is a moody IDM piece with cinematic qualities, complex but soothing. The B-Side begins with "Xenomorph" by Konrad Wehrmeister, who is known by his releases on Public Possession and SVS Records.

Molten rock is rock heated to a temperature that is sufficient to turn it into a thick liquid. Molten rock often is associated with lava from a volcano. Additionally, molten rock exists below the surface of the Earth. Magma spewed from a volcano includes molten and semi-molten rock. The temperature at which a rock melts and becomes molten depends on the mineral or minerals within the rock itself. Different minerals possess different melting points. Carbonatite minerals have lower melting points while komatite minerals melt at higher temperatures.

Semi-Molten Rock (SMR), represented by the tile ░, is generally found at the bottommost edges of Great magma seas. Anywhere that magma is found rests on layer after layer of semi-molten rock, with no normal material to be found beneath it. There is also a layer near the bottom of the map composed almost entirely of semi-molten rock even where magma does not overlie it. Freestanding formations are possible, though less common. The top of semi-molten rock, or its floor when observed from the layer above, is described as a magma flow, appearing in blue text when examined with the Look cursor and resembling a river of magma slowly flowing to the south (just like it did in older versions). The floor of the stone layer above the SMR at the bottom of the map is not a magma flow when stone is dug into, but appears as the same type of rock as the tile dug into.
