Rise Above: 24 Black Flag Songs to Benefit the West Memphis Three is a 2002 tribute album. The album consists of covers of Black Flag songs performed by the Rollins Band, with vocalists from various well-known rock, hip hop, punk and metal artists (as well as certain members of Black Flag) singing. All money raised from sales of the album were donated to the legal funds of the West Memphis Three. All tracks written by Greg Ginn, except where noted.

RISE ABOVE is a 24-track (essentially karaoke) version of BLACK FLAG songs featuring former flag vocalists Keith Morris and Henry Rollins as well as Neil Fallon of Clutch, Cedrix Bixler or The Mars Volta, Tom Araya of SLAYER, Dean Ween, Nick Oliveri formerly of QOTSA, and HANK III. The Mike Patton-led version of "SIX PACK" has to be heard to be believed. I also followed the West Memphis Three case fairly closely and was happy to see a tribute album for them, and to eventually even get to hear it performed live in Irving Plaza in NYC. As much as I love the Rawness of Black Flag albums and the anger and rage that Henry spits, you have to admit that the production value was never great.

Rollins himself calls the album "absolutely bulletproof," and he's not kidding, as evidenced by explosive renditions of "Fix Me" (Iggy Pop), "Six Pack" (Mike Patton), "Revenge" (Tom Araya), and "Jealous Again" (Nick Oliveri) prove. In addition to Rollins handling vocals on several tunes (the first time he's performed Black Flag material since the band's last tour in 1986), several other former Black Flag members lend a hand as well, including Keith Morris, Chuck Dukowski, and Kira Roessler

Rise Above is the second studio album by JK Flesh, a moniker of English musician Justin Broadrick, and was released digitally and on vinyl on 3 June 2016 through the label Electric Deluxe under the designation EDLX. It is Broadrick's fourth release under the JK Flesh title and continues the sparse, drum and bass style of Nothing Is Free, the EP released a year earlier.

Rise Above will drop plenty of jaws, and, like Deerhoof, Dirty Projectors are restructuring rock on a compositional level rather than a sonic one. To murder a cliché, whatever unfurls from Longstreth's brain next isn't anyone's guess- Rise Above, for all its fastidiousness and minor drawbacks, finally displays the perfect counterargument to the portrait of him as another nutso college dropout: It displays a pattern.
