Plaid are an English electronic music duo composed of Andy Turner and Ed Handley. They were founding members of The Black Dog and used many other names, such as Atypic (Andy Turner) and Balil (Ed Handley), before settling on Plaid. They have collaborated with female singers Mara Carlyle, Nicolette and Björk, and have released records on the labels Clear, Peacefrog, Black Dog Productions, and Warp (along with Trent Reznor's label Nothing Records).

Polymer is the tenth studio album by British electronic music duo Plaid. It was released on 7 June 2019 by Warp. It is the follow-up to their 2016 album The Digging Remedy. Plaid said in a press release that the themes of the album are "the problems and benefits of Polymers" as well as "the natural versus the synthetic, silk and silicone, the significant effect they have on our lives".

Environment, synthetics and mortality are among the album’s themes. IDM veterans Plaid will release their tenth studio album on Warp in June. According to the label, Polymer covers energetic bangers, bright melodic visceral rhythms and hypnotic wombic textures across its 13 tracks, which were informed by environment, synthetics, survival/mortality and humanity’s (dis)connection.
