Breakfast at Tiffany's gave the world the latter tune, and that beautiful melody recurs throughout this soundtrack LP, which remained No. 1 on the Billboard pop charts for 12 weeks in 1961. Henry Mancini and Blake Edwards had already enjoyed considerable success together, with Henry’s distinctive score to the television show Peter Gunn, so when Blake was assigned to direct Breakfast At Tiffany’s, he immediately contacted Henry for the film score.
