Larry Gatlin has an almost flawless voice that is one of the most soulful in country music. He also is a great songwriter, and he penned all the tunes on Pure 'n Simple. The album does include a few sappy string arrangements, but they are low in the mix. Clocking in at 32 minutes, Pure 'n Simple is a little on the short side but, then again, there's no filler - every song is a winner.

Larry is a rich story teller and he does it with lovely, simple music and words and then puts it all together with his wonderful voice and backs it with Steve's and Rudy's great voices too in the most exquisite harmony I have ever heard. These guys really understand HOW to sing. I was raised on Sinatra so I know how a song should be sung.

Larry penned every Gatlin Brothers hit you’ve ever heard. Larry Gatlin has written songs that were later recorded by Elvis Presley, Glen Campbell, Barbra Streisand, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Charlie Rich, Johnny Mathis, Dottie West and many more. December of 1992 marked a farewell to concert touring for the Gatlin Brothers as they completed their ADIOS TOUR with a CD of the same name. Then came a major turning point in his career. Larry took the lead role on Broadway in the Tony Award-winning musical "The Will Rogers Follies
