Black Boned Angel was a Wellington-based drone metal project of New Zealand experimental musicians Campbell Kneale (who also performs solo as Birchville Cat Motel) and James Kirk (of Sandoz Lab Technicians, The Stumps, The Idle Suite). Originally a duo with Kirk, recently Black Boned Angel has expanded to include Jules Desmond (of 1/3 Octave Band).

Take note Fear Falls Burning, Atavist- this is how you do a freakin' collab with the Nadj. None of that "put some random fx, wank over Nadja's usual stuff" crap, just straight forward power drone/ambient that's like every Tim Hecker.

The joint self-titled effort from Nadja and Black Boned Angel is less immediately revelatory than other similar partnerships, but it proves to be an enjoyable alliance regardless, harnessing the acts' propensity for richly detailed, dark atmospherics  . From there it slowly builds back into another monolithic, majestic riff and release cycle, a huge stomping echo-laden crunch on a distant moonscape before ending on a last groan of noise and final drums.
