Noise Unit - Decoder flac album

The second Leeb-Fulber Noise Unit album, Decoder, ventures further into techno territory and explores dystopian soundscapes with minimal, processed vocals reminiscent of Forma Tadre, Haujobb, and Headscan. Now, for the first time ever, Decoder is reissued as an incredible double-LP vinyl. The record is remastered, artwork is restored, and the entire set is housed in a gorgeous gatefold sleeve.

The band has seen several changes in line-up, with Bill Leeb being the only permanent member. It was released in 1989 through Wax Trax! and Antler-Subway.

Noise Unit is yet another name for the ultra-prolific team of Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber. This partnership, perhaps the hardest working duo in cyber-rock, is more notoriously known as Front Line Assembly but also operates as Synaethesia, Delerium, Intermix, and Will. Noise Unit's Strategy of Violence and Decoder were both released only as CDs in the early 90s. Decoder ventures further into techno territory and explores dystopian soundscapes with minimal, processed vocals. I had listened to some of their previous material, which was quite in the vein of early FLA, and so when i knew that the later Noise Unit's works, that is 'Decoder' and 'Drill' were completely instrumental and more techno-oriented, I thought I'd never give them even a listening. When I first listened to Drill's 'Dominator' I thought, well, it's not that bad, but I didn't pay more attention to this side-project for some months. Now that I own 'Decoder' I must recognise it is a masterpiece in its genre.
