Gene Rains - Jungle Drums, off the album "Call from the Tropics". About Gene Rains: Gene Rains is a vibraphonist and leader of the Gene Rains Group, a jazz quartet from Hawaii that played a musical style known as Exotica. Rains' short career spanned the early to the mid-1960s and consisted of 4 LP recordings released on Decca Records and the Vocalion label. The Gene Rains Group repertoire featured popular Hawaiian and Polynesian Island melodies as well as popular American tunes of the era. Gene Rains was "discovered" by the enormously popular Hawaiian crooner of the era, Alfred Apaka. It Never Rains in Southern California is the debut album by Albert Hammond released by Mums Records. The album landed on the Billboard 200 chart, reaching The title song hit on the Adult Contemporary chart, on the Billboard Hot 100, and on the UK Singles Chart in 1972. The single "Down By The River" hit on the Adult Contemporary chart and on the Billboard Hot 100. The single "If You Gotta Break Another Heart" hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1973.
