Brian3737 Update: Stormveiled is an eclectic album with exceptional vocals and drums, beautiful guitar work, symphonic elements tastefully exhibited, and grand atmosphere. but hopefully earlier than that!

Producer – Avant-Garde, Gianmarco Bellumori. All songs taken from the forthcoming album "ANTITESI". Since its first official release in 1999 and till the latest album in 2008, Avant-Garde has been known by the strong and careful work with sound and the ability of providing dreamy and melancholic mood. This EP shows that the band's potential is much more than that. The opening track is performed with such a tension and nerve that hardly could even be imagined in the past band's studio works

Avant-Garde is taken from the French for "vanguard," which is the part of the armed forces that always stands at the front of the rest of the army. In the case of music, the avant-garde are those individuals who take music to the next step in development or at least take music on a divergent path. The term was first applied only after World War II. In popular idioms it is a term used to describe or refer to free jazz movements but the meaning remains the same: techniques of expression that are new, innovative and radically different from the tradition or the mainstream

Talk about Avant-Garde - Époque

Maman
Since its first official release in 1999 and till the latest album in 2008, Avant-Garde has been known by the strong and careful work with sound and the ability of providing dreamy and melancholic mood. This EP shows that the band's potential is much more than that. The opening track is performed with such a tension and nerve that hardly could even be imagined in the past band's studio works. And real drums (one more innovation for the band) by Gianmarco Bellumori only underline the changes the band has. The follow-up "Livido Livore" is another demonstration of changes - with this dark and romantic instrumental track, Viviana B represents herself as synth player in Avant-Garde. "Il Buio su Roma" is more a cheer to the "old good Avant-Garde" with reflective vocals, cloudy guitar and strondly accented bass and drum machine, though the addition of synth to the well-known coctail make this sound quite epic. The finishing song, instrumental once again, is "weird mix" on the song "Antitesi" (headline song for the new album) gives only a hint on how it originally should sound, since the mix represents it as something that I would call "chamber coldwave" because it sounds as if Avant-Garde decided to experiment with ambient music, but remain recognizable. To summarize, it's more than likely that the new album by Avant-Garde won't disappoint the old fans and will attract some new ones since the band keeps its essense on one hand and exploring new directions on another. -Pavel 'Nattsol' Zarutskiy
