Listen free to Shelby – Boobs: The Junkshop Glam Discotheque. Boobs: The Junkshop Glam Discotheque" is the sixth instalment in RPM's Lip Smackin' 70s series. Each of the twenty tracks has a relentless, pounding glam rock sound. Boobs" is a reference to a Glam club of the same name from the mid-1970s and this collection is a selection of glam tunes that, whilst they never troubled the charts, still retain plenty for the Glam fan to enjoy.

Boobs: Junkshop Glam Discotheque ~ Lipsmackin' 70S Vol 6, Various. Glam defined the mid 70's. This collection captures all the best including well known artists like the Sweet with more obscure (especially in the states) but still great artists like Mud and the Rubettes. Put on your wedgies and enjoy.

In the same way that punk or glam rock were evolving at the same time, the "disco" phenomenon generated a plethora of obscure and bizarre studio projects which remained unknown for decades, despite often being more inspired and creative than the few ones that reached stardom and sold millions of copies.

Part based on the club listings of the early 70s and part based on the club listings of today, this compilation has the dance floor groovers with a bit of strum, a bit of stomp, and a whole lotta Glam. You’ve probably never heard of any of the artists, but those collecting the Lipsmackin’ series appear to be used to that. All meat and drink to the collector. Oh and BOOBS actually was the name of an early 70s discotheque, in south London and Bristol (appropriately) at least, probably elsewhere too. Additional information.
