Antena: Camino Del Sol is the second compilation album by The Numero Group (NUM002), based on a mini-album originally released in September 1982. It features tracks by French-Belgian trio Antena who were then signed to Belgian label Les Disques Du Crepuscule. Antena featured Isabelle Antena, a pseudonym for Isabelle Powaga, who is a cult figure known for her song "Say I Believe In I. The re-release contains re-mastered tracks, B-sides and two previously unreleased songs.

A truly amazing mixture of Mancini-esque jazzy energy, Jobim and the omnipresent Kraftwerkian coldness, fitting into post-punk just perfect - further blending Marine Girls' established lazy calm and announcing the trend of groups like Matt Bianco, Everything But the Girl or Swing Out Sister, Antena produced a funny, amusing electro-samba cocktail - equally naive and just as damn well creepy. Balearic downbeat gear here from French artistes Antena. Popularised by the Todd Terje mix of ‘Camino Del Sol’ in 2007, Antena are favourites on the majority of Balearic compilations, and this album provides Ibiza-style beach gear perfect for sitting outside Café Del Mar watching the sun go down or on Talamanca beach with some Hierbas De Ibiza. Originally released in 1982, and containing just 6 tracks, this is the second CD re-issue.

Re-issue of the classic 1980s album "Camino Del Sol", recorded by French band Antena - 16 pieces of timeless music halfway in between Ultravoxx and Antonio Carlos Jobim. This is a true electro samba classic from 1982, originally released on Les Disques De Crepuscule, two tracks were produced by John Foxx (Ultravoxx). The string arrangements of "Les Demoiselles De Rochefort" have been arranged by Tuxedomoon's Blaine L Reininger.

Talk about Antena - Camino Del Sol

komandante
A truly amazing mixture of Mancini-esque jazzy energy, Jobim and the omnipresent Kraftwerkian coldness, fitting into post-punk just perfect - further blending Marine Girls' established lazy calm and announcing the trend of groups like Matt Bianco, Everything But the Girl or Swing Out Sister, Antena produced a funny, amusing electro-samba cocktail - equally naive and just as damn well creepy. To start with the most obvious, just check both - the audio and the hillarious video for 'The Boy From Ipanema' and there'll be goosebumps - amazing what can be done with a single line from the original song, transformed into a repetitive yet irresistibly dynamic cover, which makes it a standard all of its own. Perverted by a vodocer, adding 'insult to injury' to the very title (Antena's version is supposed to be a reference to a transvestite), 'The Boy From Ipanema' is a spooky rendition as if made by aliens, accidentally stuck on the Brazillian shore due to a rocket crash, and while awaiting their technical recovery, the trio discovers the charm and immediately falls in love with the exotic, newly found environment. Of course, many would refer to this - a deserved favourite by the group - as their sole success (most notably for the fact, John Foxx and Gareth Jones assisted the trio with production duties), but gems like 'Bye Bye Papaye', 'Seaside Weekend' (pretty inspiring for a certain Basia Trzstrzselewska, and a little later reconstructed by Isabelle Powaga herself), 'Noelle a Hawaii', the adorable 'Les Demoiselles De Rochefort', the title song ('Camino del Sol'), 'Achilles', 'Frantz' and especially additional pieces like 'Joppo & Eno' or 'On the Boat' all present a stunning scream for listeners' attention.Listening to Antena, one is also impossible to shake off the impression this is Stereolab years too early. The voices are very smooth, seducing and erotic in all their naive charm and make this whole collection even more desirable (and highly recommended). Thank you LTM. This is bliss.
