The album was released in 1994 on ZTT and Sire Records and features the worldwide smash hit single "Kiss from a Rose". The image on the cover has since become nearly synonymous with Seal, in that it has appeared on several singles covers and was reused for his greatest hits album.

FOCUS is a Symphonic Prog, Progressive Rock artist from Netherlands. This album contains everything you might want from a FOCUS album. plenty of flute and keyboards from Thijs, tasty guitar playing from Jan DUME and even some yodeling vocals. Perhaps in summary, the band could have veered a little from the safety of the FOCUS blueprint but "Focus 9" may yet further develop their own voice.

The year in question - 1994 - was incredibly varied. It was a year of discovery and tragedy, innovation and resurrection. It was the year when rock's long-festering underground finally collided full force with the mainstream. Though Nirvana had broken through in a massive way in 1992 with Nevermind, they (along with Pearl Jam) were the only punk-rooted bands to find big-time mainstream success during the first few years of the decade . Below, check out our guide to 50 (OK, 51) albums that defined 1994.
