John Coffey was a Dutch punk rock/post-hardcore band from Utrecht. John Coffey is influenced by bands such as Refused, Every Time I Die and The Ghost of a Thousand. The band name is a reference to the character John Coffey from the movie The Green Mile (1999) by Frank Darabont, based on the six-book series by Stephen King. The band gained a lot of interest when a video and gif went viral of the singer catching a beer while he was standing on the crowd.

The Great News‘ is their most recent album release and follows on from 2012’s ‘Bright Companions‘. The latest album was produced by Jag Jago (former guitarist of The Ghost of A Thousand) and his influence seems to have definitely been stamped on the album, enhancing the punk driven guitar work and vocals. John Coffey are extremely tight musically, especially considering their roots are primarily driven by punk-rock, a genre notorious for irregular musicianship. This co-ordination within the band has enabled them to create an extremely diverse record, encompassing many different musical styles and transitioning between them seamlessly.

An album of previously unheard original compositions by the legendary jazz saxophonist has been discovered 55 years after its recording. Sonny Rollins, a peer of Coltrane’s and also regarded as one of the greatest jazz saxophonists of all time, described the discovery as like finding a new room in the Great Pyramid. Among the seven tracks are two completely unheard original compositions, called Untitled Original 11383 and Untitled Original 11386, both of which are played on soprano saxophone
