Conformicide is the fourth studio album and major label debut by American thrash metal band Havok, released on March 10, 2017. It is Havok's first album for Century Media Records after having released their three previous albums and 2012 EP Point of No Return on Candlelight Records, their first release with bassist Nick Schendzielos and their first studio album since Unnatural Selection (2013), making it the longest gap between the band's albums.

Conformicide is the 4th full-length album from Colorado-based thrash metal band Havok. It was released March 10, 2017, which marks the longest gap between releases since Unnatural Selection debuted in 2013. It peaked at of the Billboard top current albums list. The album is a slight departure from typical thrash metal traits and pushes some more progressive elements most evidently with the addition of slap bass from bassist Nick Schendzielos, to most of the tracks. The album also features some time signature and tempo changes, making it Havok’s most dynamic album to date

While Havok's always delivered killer albums, Conformicide sees the band come into their own sound. This is an album that really only sounds like Havok, and no one else. Along with Overkill's The Grinding Wheel, this is the best album you'll find in 2017.

Conformicide is a definite misnomer for Havok’s fourth album. Not that I love them, they have to follow too many others in the race to satisfy my personal tastes, but I can recognize their potential on, to say, Time Is Up.

Dope Entertainment Music Company. Havok (7). Conformicide ‎(LP, Whi + LP, S/Sided, Etch, Whi + Album + CD, Alb).

The result propels Havok outside the norm and towards the peak of the growing modern thrash movement. Helmed by the fleshed out bass of new addition Nick Schendzielos (Job for a Cowboy, Cephalic Carnage), . immediately puts Havok‘s stylistic evolution on display. Initial returns combine Rage Against the Machine with Countdown to Extinction for a slow, uncharacteristic groove. Though teasing Mustainean vocal accents at first, David Sanchez bends back to his trademark hooks as the tempo picks up.

Havok is a somewhat bare-bones thrash metal hailing from Denver, Colorado that has been making music since 2004 and was signed into Candlelight records in 2009. This is their 4th album, which musically is present by their very tight and concise musicianship. There are fiery riffs alongside rampant drumming and cackling vocals that are very reminiscent of bands like Overkill. That being said, Havok's "Conformicide" is raw. It's relentless. It's an aggravating assault that becomes more ferocious with the anti-political venom spit forth from vocalist David Sanchez.

And so Conformicide is Havok, but it’s Havok seen through the lense of Infectious Grooves, Anacrusis, Watchtower, and even the super-early Megadeth days. While Hang ‘Em High’ is classic Havok with flighty yet punchy riffs and infectious hooks, it’s hard to ignore the long-form ambitious stomp of Ingsoc or the tempo-dynamic and oddly bass-intensive opener . They’ve collectively shown an immense maturation in song-writing and sonic drama. The album is great, but it’s for sure an exhausting listen. It’s one of the best albums of the year, and I commend Havok for making it.
