Bonito is a municipality located in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul. As of 2010 its population was 19,587, and it has an area of 4,934 square kilometres (1,905 sq mi). The community that would become the center of the Municipality of Bonito started with the land of the Rincão Bonito Fazenda, which had an area of 1. square miles (27 km2) and was acquired by Euzébio Captain Luiz da Costa Leite Falcão in 1869.

Mato Grosso: Mato Grosso, inland estado (state) of central Brazil. Mato Grosso, whose name means. Mato Grosso was settled first by pioneering gold seekers from São Paulo after they had been forced to retreat by the emboabas (Portuguese colonists) of Minas Gerais in the so-called war of the emboabas in 1708, over mining rights in gold fields.
