Garden Of Delight was written by Wayne Hussey, for Left On Mission And Revenge, the supposed follow-up Sisters of Mercy album to First And Last And Always. A demo version with Eldritch singing is relatively widespread, though many believe he sounds as if he is feeling "forced" to sing. Likewise, a demo version with Hussey singing exists as well, and he sounds as if he's putting effort into it.

Floodland is the second studio album by English gothic rock band the Sisters of Mercy. The Sisters of Mercy were formed in Leeds, England, in 1980 by two regulars of the F-club punk night, Gary Marx and Andrew Eldritch, to satisfy their desire to hear themselves on the radio. During this time a single, "Damage Done/Watch/Home of the Hit-men", was recorded and released. The band name was influenced by Robert Altman's. film McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971), which featured the Leonard Cohen song "Sisters of Mercy" from the album Songs of Leonard Cohen, "because the Captains of Industry wouldn't have been as funny". Hussey had several written songs for the album, including "Dance on Glass" and "Garden of Delight".
