The soundtrack to the 1993 cult fave (and cable programming staple) So I Married an Axe Murderer is an easygoing collection bringing back memories of MTV's 120 Minutes as it existed in 1993. Second-tier Alternative Nation acts like Ned's Atomic Dustbin kick it next to the goat-bearded wanderlust of the Spin Doctors and their era-defining single "Two Princes. Alongside the La's shimmering original version is a rollicking Boo Radleys cover of "There She Goes. Elsewhere, Suede and Sun-60 turn in tracks in a quest for mainstream stardom that never materialized.
Soundtrack album by. Various artists. The film's original score was composed and conducted by Bruce Broughton. Due to the film's having a heavy emphasis on popular music, several of Broughton's cues were replaced with songs (such as his main title music being supplanted by The Boo Radleys' version of "There She Goes," and "Butcher Shop Montage" having Big Audio Dynamite's "Rush" substituted). So I Married an Axe Murderer was first shown at a screening to benefit the local San Francisco film office, on July 27, 1993, at the Palace of Fine Arts Theater. It had its official world premiere at the Galaxy Theater in Hollywood on July 28, with Myers, Travis, and LaPaglia in attendance. The film did not perform well at the box office.
