It's hard to remember why this album inspired so much antagonism back in 1979. Most of the songs treat girls as alien but desirable creatures, and singer Doug Fieger is maybe a little too gleeful about the dirty thoughts they inspire, but as art crimes go those are misdemeanors. The power pop sublimity of "My Sharona" and "Good Girls Don't," on the other hand, is a rare achievement. It's hard to remember why this album inspired so much antagonism back in 1979.
