It was supposed to be a limited run of 21 CDs. That never materialized, and the music was spread for free on the internet. The second release was 4 months later through Beneath the Fog Productions (defunct).

Melankolia was started in mid-2007 by Mike O'Brien At least the concept of it. The music actually formed and took shape late 2007. My original goal with Melankolia was to try and put feelings to music. I originally started with a very poor setup and poor instruments. The difference between now and then is almost definately the passion. Nokturnum - 2009, Beneath the Fog Productions, 7 track album. Later referred to as the project's "demo", Nokturnum sold over 150 copies, and is currently sold out. - Orpheus Down - 2010, Quartier23, 10 track full album. Orpheus Down saw the ascent in quality to MIDI sounds and better instrumentation.
