Never Take Friendship Personal had Anberlin exploring new things that would soon become album staples on future releases, from lengthy closers to moving ballads. The record’s diversity reaches a peak at The Symphony of Blasé, which sees Anberlin doing something they had never done before. The stripped-down arrangement creates a melancholy atmosphere, allowing Stephen Christian’s emotional vocals to shine even more. It’s a nice contrast from the high energy jams, showing off the band’s sensitive side while still retaining the passion that made them such so great.

Innocence gone Never take friendship personal If you can't hold yourself together Why should I hold you now? Once a skeptic, now the critic And you figured you finally Found a place of your own Amongst the cold and timid souls Where only failure knows your name Look around for the closest to blame But look no further than the Hands beneath your arms And now you're six feet down Buried with, with your passing fame.

The second (Never Take Friendship Personal) was Man Vs. Man. Cities is more adult in the manner that it's Man vs. Self. The Haunting" was later released on the Lost Songs album in late 2007, but Anberlin did not play the song live until September 28, 2010 at the New Orleans House of Blues.

In a sense gone Never take friendship personal If you can't hold yourself together why should I hold you now? Anberlin ~ Never Take Friendship Personal. There's only one word that comes immediately to mind when describing Anberlin's Never Take Friendship Personal release.

All of those trends are epitomized in the sophomore effort by Anberlin, which producer Aaron Sprinkle and engineer . McNeely mixed in such a way as to best approximate the band's ferocious live energy. Try not to be put off by the pretentious song titles ("Audrey, Start the Revolution!," " blasé," et. - - Anberlin is primarily concerned with sweeping you off your feet by means of huge, swooping melodies and rich harmonies, all powered by blunderbuss guitars and tightly structured production.

Anberlin have released Never Take Friendship Personal: Live in NYC, which was recorded at the Gramercy Theatre in New York City on their final tour, as a homage to the band’s long-running success and to support their last record, Lowborn (released last summer). Notes

Track times derived from computer. Track titles are different from what they ended up being called on the official release.

The tracks themselves are slightly different mixes. The album version of "A Day Late" fades out during the last chorus, whereas the one on this release doesn't, instead ending with the chorus finishing and the last guitar note ringing out.
