Agnes Caroline Thaarup Obel (born 28 October 1980) is a Danish singer, songwriter, and musician. Her first album, Philharmonics, was released by PIAS Recordings on 4 October 2010 and was certified gold in June 2011 by the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA) after selling 10,000 Copies. At the Danish Music Awards in November 2011, Agnes Obel won five prizes, including Best Album and Best Debut Artist. Citizen of Glass, her third album, received the IMPALA Album of the Year Award 2016.

Released on 28 October 2008, her third album, Dance Love Pop, reached number five in Sweden, 70 in Austria, 38 in France, 45 in Switzerland and 13 in the United Kingdom. With 200,000 albums sold worldwide this is her most successful album, 50,000 albums were sold in France, 40,000 in Sweden. Its first two singles, "On and On" and "Release Me" became international hits, reaching the top-ten in charts worldwide. Agnes Carlsson was born in Vänersborg, Sweden on 6 March 1988 as the youngest of four siblings. Her father was an environmental engineer, her mother a nurse and social worker. Agnes started taking violin lessons and joined a choir at a young age.

On and On" was the single that announced the comeback of Agnes, after two years of silence. Her first performance with "On and On" was at "Sommarkrysset" in the Swedish TV-channel TV4 on August 16, 2008. And it was also during the show that the comeback was officially announced. Other performances in Sweden are in popular kidsshows "Lilla Melodifestivalen" and "Bobster". She has also performed the song on numerous concerts all around Europe during the summer of 2009. In late October, "On and On" started to climb the charts in the francophone areas of Europe though it had not yet been released. This was only due to download sales from the album released earlier in 2009 "On and On" was released in the United Kingdom with a different sound to the original track, and with a new video.
