What follows is basic introduction to the core Codec 2 algorithms using maths in ‘C code’ to make it more familiar. Also see: A presentation on Codec 2 in Power Point or Open Office form. This is a really gentle introduction. Codec2 uses harmonic sinusoidal speech coding.

In a previous blogpost we talked about the Opus codec, which offers very low bitrates. Another codec seeking to achieve even lower bitrates is Codec 2. Codec 2 is designed for use with speech only, and although the bitrates are impressive the results aren’t as clear as Opus, as you can hear in the following audio examples. However, there is some interesting work being done with Codec 2 in combination with neural network (WaveNets) that is yielding great results. Layers of a WaveNet neural network.

First, confirm that the Album name is exactly the same for all tracks comprising the album. Even slight differences, such as an otherwise invisible space at the end of the title, will result in it being listed as a different album. Select all the tracks that should be listed as a single album, then Get Info (Command+I) on them. If the album titles are identical, the Album field will show the title. If they are not, the field will appear with a light-grey Mixed label, or a dash in small fields.

Encoding Audio into Codec2 Audio File: This is a two part process, as first you need to prepare the audio so it can be read and processed by the Codec2 software. 1. Preparing Codec 2 The audio file needs to be 8000Hz, 16bit-PCM, Mono Raw Audio File Format. Once you have that software follow the steps below to prepare the audio for Codec2 encoding

Gaon Album Chart, part of Gaon Music Chart, is a national chart that ranks the best-selling albums, including mini and single albums, in South Korea, provided by the Korea Music Content Industry Association. It has been tracking sales since the beginning of 2010 and launched in February the same year as part of the Gaon Music Chart. The charts are made up of charts tracking domestic album sales, international album sales and a combined overall album sales in weekly, monthly and year-end format.

Codec 2 is a low bitrate speech codec with compression modes ranging from 700 bit/s to 3200 bit/s. It is useful for voice compression in bandwidth constrained environments. The codec accepts 16 bit 8Khz PCM audio as input. This framework is based on a fork of the Codec 2 source code.

Codec 2 is a low-bitrate speech audio codec (speech coding) that is patent free and open source. Codec 2 compresses speech using sinusoidal coding, a method specialized for human speech. Bit rates of 3200 to 700 bit/s have been successfully created. Codec 2 was designed to be used for amateur radio and other high compression voice applications.
