To the disappointment of those hoping for one of the former lineups to reunite for the gig, Blackmore didn’t go the easy way and – as often – assembled a new team of musicians to accompany him on this adventure. If the only complaints expressed about this album are the mere handful that we see here in The Highway Star, then I think ‘Memories In Rock’ will sell lots & lots of . Actually, I’d love to see & hear a full concert of Rainbow songs performed by Blackmore’s Night!. Rainbow are an English-American hard rock band originally from Hertford, Hertfordshire. Formed in February 1975 by then-Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, the original lineup of the group also included former Elf members Ronnie James Dio (vocals), Craig Gruber (bass), Gary Driscoll (drums) and Micky Lee Soule (keyboards), who recorded and released the self-titled album Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow that year.

Live performance by Ritchie Blackmore and Rainbow recorded over two German shows in June 2016. Filmed at Loreley and Bietigheim, the band play a selection of classic tracks including 'Since You've Been Gone', 'Man On the Silver Mountain' and 'Stargazer'

In June 2016, legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore made his much-anticipated return to rock music as Ritchie Blackmor' s Rainbow played three concerts in Europe, two in Germany and one in England. Recordings from the two German shows at Loreley and Bietigheim make up this live album Memories In Rock. The setlist, combining classic tracks from both Deep Purple and Rainbow, was exactly what the fans had wished for. The band played superbly and Ritchie Blackmore proved that he remains one of the finest guitarists of all time.
