Sign o' the Times is the ninth studio album by American singer, songwriter, producer, and t Prince. It was first released as a double album on March 30, 1987, by Paisley Park Records and Warner Bros. The album is the follow-up to Parade (1986) and is Prince's first album following his disbanding of the Revolution

Sign o' the Times (styled Sign "☮" the Times) is a 1987 American concert film written and directed by Prince. However, the United States remained resistant to his latest album, and sales began to drop; it was at this point that Prince decided to film a live concert promoting the new material, for eventual distribution to theaters in America.

Prince wanted Sign O' The Times to be a triple album called "The Crystal Ball," but in a rare rebuke, his record company refused, and instead it was pared down to a double album. This was one of the first significant conflicts between Prince and Warner Bros. Records; over the next few years Prince grew to resent the label, which was restricting his output. This led to his name change and public appearances with the word "slave" written on his face. The B-side was "La La La He He He," which appears only on the collection The Hits/The B-Sides

It begins with the insistent drip-drop of a sequencer and ends with some old school R&B. In between, the artist who was still calling himself Prince unfurls an encyclopedia of moods, genres, and grooves. Widely heralded as a groundbreaker in 1987, when it was released, some of the music in oh-so-'80s synths sounds a bit dated. Yet this two-CD set is clearly the sound of a performer at the height of his power. On songs like the title track, "If I Was Your Girlfriend," and the thunderous "The Cross," Prince proves why the hype was justified.

Sign O' The Times" lyrics. Oh yeah In France a skinny man Died of a big disease with a little name By chance his girlfriend came across a needle And soon she did the same At home there are seventeen-year-old boys And their idea of fun Is being in a gang called The Disciples High on crack, totin' a machine gun. Time, time

While the music overflows with generous spirit, these are among the most cryptic, insular songs he's ever written.

Album: Sign O' The Times. It was released worldwide in March 1987. Eight of the album's seventeen tracks were included on various configurations of the Dream Factory album, planned as the fourth album by Prince and the Revolution. When the Revolution was disbanded in October 1986, Prince reworked the album.

Sign ☮ the Times (or Sign O' The Times) is an album by Prince, released on March 31, 1987, on the Paisley Park records label. It's the follow up to Parade, and Prince's first "solo" album since splitting with The Revolution; the symbol between the quotes is a peace sign. The double album was a synthesis of three projects from 1986, including some work with The Revolution
