Teebs has such a unique and tender magic, as an artist, as a producer and as a human being. Everything he does is gold, he does HIS thing, always has and I suspect, always will. Music for the imagination. Ardour is the debut album by long time running My Hollow Drum, Dublab, and recent Brainfeeder artist, Teebs. Born in New York to Malawi and Barbados origins, Mtendere (pronounced ten-de-ra ) (Chichewa for 'Peace') Mandowa, is a 23 year-old producer who bounced around the East Coast before finally planting his feet in the Southern California suburb of Chino Hills.

Estara is Teebs' "difficult second album," and he seems to have confronted the challenge of possible failure by diffusing his beats into even hazier territory, sometimes sounding so hazy they collapse into white noise. The overall effect is slightly more abstract, and perhaps, harder to hold on to. Teebs explained the shift in style two ways-first, a change of medium to paint on fundamentally altered the technical aspects of his work. But conceptually speaking, something funkier is going on. "It's as if the album has aged and grown into itself," he said. Now that it's out, Teebs will continue with another project: a travelling art show called Ante Vos. Artwork from Ante Vos.

Joining me will be Teebs, who’s kept busy lately with some exciting projects - next to his new album, Estara, he’s also been working on Ante Vos, an art exhibition which is a series of record sleeve prints, featuring some exciting collaborators on select pieces - (some of which I got to see in the making by my girl Alima). Sofie joined the Boiler Room family in 2012 while working for Stones Throw Records after she played our first ever LA show.
