The International Chopin Piano Competition (Polish: Międzynarodowy Konkurs Pianistyczny im. Fryderyka Chopina), often referred to as the Chopin Competition, is a piano competition held in Warsaw, Poland. It was initiated in 1927 and has been held every five years since 1955. It is one of the few competitions devoted entirely to the works of a single composer, in this case, Frédéric Chopin.

The Chopin Competition belongs to the World Federation of International Music Competitions in Geneva since 1957. The pianists' performances are evaluated by an international jury chaired by such outstanding Chopin experts as: Witold Maliszewski (1927), Adam Wieniawski (1932, 1937), Zbigniew Drzewiecki (1949, 1955, 1960, 1965), Kazimierz Sikorski (1970, 1975), Kazimierz Kord (1980) and Jan Ekier (1985, 1990 and 1995). The Fourth International. Fryderyk Chopin Competition. for Amateur Pianists. We hope that pianists from all over the world, for whom playing the piano is a passion rather than a way of earning a living, will find participation in the Competition an attractive proposition. The rules of competition basically remain unchanged (see Rules). However, since in 2018 Poland will celebrate a hundred years of regaining independence, we have introduced a new requirement.
