That’s been Leon Timbo’s mantra for the last 10 years. Mapping out his own version of the time-honored chitlin circuit, the sician has journeyed coast-to-coast and beyond to build a fan base through live performances and live independent CDs. That’s where my heartbeat has been, bouncing back and forth from city to city, says Timbo, who divides his off-road time between Chicago and Atlanta. It’s been that type of movement that has built my sound, struggles and triumphs, if you will. To be completely transparent, What Love’s All About isn’t Timbo’s first brush with releasing a studio album. Back in 2005, the Jacksonville, Florida, native and son of two pastors released his actual first studio album, Soul Sessions. But he ultimately disavowed the album after deciding it truly didn’t represent who he was artistically. So he went on the road again.

Singer/songwriter Leon Timbo has a unique, rootsy sound that incorporates equal measures of vintage soul, gospel, folk, R&B, funk, dance music, and even modern blues in a style referred to by his producer as "transparent soul. A seasoned, well-traveled musician, he is widely regarded as a protege of Tyrese Gibson and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. Timbo counts Bill Withers, James Taylor, Andre Crouch, and Donny Hathaway among his influences. In 2005, after cutting the independently released album Soul Sessions, he supported it on an almost non-stop small venue circuit; Timbo built a fan base by playing wherever and whenever he could, coast to coast, using the internet to post new songs and video clips. Sessions was a compilation album by the Beatles planned for release by EMI in 1984 but never issued due to objections by the surviving Beatles. The album consisted of thirteen finished but unreleased Beatles songs. A planned single containing two of the tracks from Sessions – "Leave My Kitten Alone", backed with an alternative version of "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" – was also left unissued. The idea was resurrected in 1995 as The Beatles Anthology.

Leon Timbo has been working towards this moment for years. On Friday (Aug 26th), Timbo’s will release, What Love’s All About on Riverphlo Entertainment/eOne Distribution.
